With a number of older computers coming back for modern upgrades, we have these -
Computer Packing & Shipping Recommendations
To avoid damage to computers during shipping follow these recommendations.
Shippers will not cover damage if they find the computer was not packed properly to fully protect it.
Poor packaging WILL DAMAGE your computer.
You can have the shipper (UPS, FEDEX, and others) professionally pack it for you.
- use a box that has a minimum of 2 to 3 inches of room around ALL sides of the computer
use larger box over one that's too small to give you the 3 inches
- 1 to 2 inches of bubble-wrap securely around all sides of the computer
- additional packing (foam, bubble-wrap, Styrofoam peanuts,etc)
on the bottom of the box
- place computer in box and add more packing around all 4 sides in the box
- place more packing on top computer in the box
- The computer should not be able to float around in free-unused space in the box
Pack it snug so it can't bang around in the box.
- close and seal with "packing tape" - at least 4 or more runs on both sides of box openings
